The 16th European Conference on Turbomachinery Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics (ETC16) will be held in March 2025 in Hannover (Germany), beginning on Monday, March 24th and concluding on Friday, March 28th. The conference covers from a scientific and engineering perspective, the fluid dynamics and thermodynamics of turbomachines, as well as of turbomachinery based propulsion systems and power systems.

What to see
Hannover is the capital of the state of Lower Saxony. Located on the southern edge of the North German Lowlands on the Leine and Ihme rivers and was first mentioned in 1150. Hanover was a royal seat from 1636, residence of the Electorate of Brunswick-Lüneburg from 1692 and capital of the Kingdom of Hanover from 1814. From 1714 to 1837 there was a personal union between Great Britain and Hanover, according to which Hanover’s monarchs were also the kings of Great Britain. Since 1946, Hanover has been the capital of Lower Saxony. A major city since 1875, it is now one of the 15 most populous cities in Germany.
Hannover is home to fifteen universities and several libraries. The correspondence of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz and the Golden Letter, kept in the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Library, are part of the UNESCO World Document Heritage. Hanover is an important research and business location and an important sports city and has also been a UNESCO City of Music since 2014.
The cityscape is characterized by numerous public green spaces, a high density of street art and numerous architectural monuments, including representative buildings of the North German Brick Gothic, the Hanoverian School of Architecture, Brick Expressionism and Classicism. The Hannover Adventure Zoo, the Maschsee lake and the Herrenhausen Gardens with Herrenhausen Palace are known beyond the region; the arched elevator in the New Town Hall is a worldwide rarity. Among the tourist highlights around the state capital are Lake Steinhude, the Deister Hills and Marienburg Castle.

Climate
Year after year, March brings the most capricious weather to Hannover. Visitors might face medium spring temperature, while a few days later, temperature might drop and they might be freezing in the wintry cold. Yet, based on the long-term average, the temperature is usually close to 10 degrees Celsius.
